What exactly is web development?

Web development is the building and maintenance of websites; it’s the work that happens behind the scenes to make a website look great, work fast and perform well with a seamless user experience.

Web developers, or ‘devs’, do this by using a variety of coding languages. The languages they use depends on the types of tasks they are preforming and the platforms on which they are working.

Web development skills are in high demand worldwide and well paid too – making development a great career option. It is one of the easiest accessible higher paid fields as you do not need a traditional university degree to become qualified.

The field of web development is generally broken down into front-end (the user-facing side) and back-end (the server side).

What does a website development company typically do?

The primary scope of work for a web development company includes ideating, designing, creating and maintaining websites and applications. Let us break this down further:

  1. Ideating and freezing the framework, architecture, and navigation
  2. Choosing a coding language to build your site and app (HTML, PHP, JavaScript, ASP, etc.)
  3. Coding and programming the back end
  4. Integrating media elements like videos, images, and audio
  5. Publishing content and optimizing it according to best practices
  6. Working on designing the User Interface and User Experience at the front end
  7. Testing the website and app before it goes live (beta testing)
  8. Identifying problems and fixing bugs
  9. Conducting speed and performance testing
  10. Implementing codes and going live
  11. Maintaining and updating this online real estate on a regular basis

The web development process involves several other steps, most of which are taken care of by us. We can also offer to design and build a site or app using an online Content Management System (CMS) like Joomla, WordPress, Magento, or any other from the host of existing platforms.

In essence, a web development company like ourselves works with its client and design team to provide end-to-end website creation and app development services.

Can I develop a website myself?

You can do this Using an online ‘website builder’ package and it may be tempting for cost conscious businesses startups, but there are many reasons why this option is a bad idea.  Website development requires behind the scenes coding and SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)  that requires understanding of coding and internet processes.  If you think of a website like a car, the ‘engine’ is the backend coding and SEO.  Nobody really sees this, but it is essential for your website to work and rank well with search engines like Google.  If your self build website fails to show up in searches, you are just throwing money down the drain.

How does an SEO company report look like?

SEO reports give an overview of how a website is performing in search engines.

Their focus is typically on domain metrics, organic traffic, and rankings. But they also highlight any work done by the SEO agency or freelancer.

Good SEO is based on planning and actually doing the work day in, day out. An SEO report is the analysis of this planning and work combo, in order to see the effects produced.

  • Bad SEO Reports: Bloated with loads of pointless data, (or not enough data) and little/no useful advice for a client. It’s basically just a data dump.
  • Good SEO Reports: Summarises key data, provides commentary on any fluctuations and provides actionable insights. It not only shows a client what work has been done, it explains why.

From the quick export to the detailed 100-page monstrosity, there is no definitive SEO report. And no matter the length and depth of your report, they take a while to create.

The job description of SEO Consultants and for WordPress SEO Consultants has transformed to include sophisticated skill requirements focusing upon content strategy and semantic keyword focus. There is a new set of job deliverables required to create informational, unique, exceptional content along with better user experiences. Why should I hire an search engine marketing company?

An SEO agency will give better results

Even though your business website may be designed beautifully, it will not be serving its purpose if it does not help you get more traffic. When you work with an SEO company or professional, you will get better results. These professionals will assess your website and optimize it to ensure that it performs well. They will also ensure that your site does not just attract potential leads, but becomes a converting site. This will help to yield better results and business for your company.

Investing in SEO services is valuable and will yield desirable results for every business. However, you should ensure that the SEO agency that you work with is trusted and will yield the right results. A good company will implement strategies and campaigns that will enhance your visibility in search engines, boost your chances of reaching out to prospective customers, and also reduce your marketing budget.

What Is international SEO?

This includes, but is not limited to technical SEO changes that indicate language and country targeting preferences, content localisation, and multilingual link building.

How much does SEO cost?

SEO prices in the UK

There is no study as such, but being at the helm of an SEO and PPC agency and having worked with thousands of businesses over the years, I do have some insight into what pricing looks like.

  • £100-£150 per month — low-end SEO (or low competition)
  • £150-£300 per month — mid-range small business SEO
  • £300-£500 per month — more competitive mid-range SEO
  • £500-£1,000 per month — high-end small business SEO (usually a national business)
  • £1,000-£2,000 per month — high-quality for competitive industries
  • £2,000 upwards per month — high-value businesses with content-led SEO approach. Typically a national or multi location business.

In practice, what we see is that the general street-level SEO companies tend to work from £300 upwards. Then there are some online small business SEO providers that work from around £100 to £150 per month. It is hard to know what will suit until each business sector is analysed on it’s own merit.

What does an international SEO consultant do?

While a local SEO consultant performs similar tasks as an international SEO consultant, the latter must perform more detailed and larger strategies. Rather than aiming for a particular area, international SEO consultants must focus on various regions. This can make strategies more complex, especially if the business in question is targeting regions with different languages.
